Online clothing shopping is always a bit of a psychological gamble, mostly because you are stuck guessing how a fabric will drape over your unique frame
Fortunately, Google is deploying its latest artificial intelligence (AI) feature to rescue Malaysian shoppers from the absolute dread of bad fits.
The tech giant first showcased its smart shopping tool, Google Try On feature, at the Google I/O conference in May last year.
After spending more than a year exclusively in the US, Google Try On will be gradually rolling out in Malaysia over the coming weeks
Three separate platforms will host the tool, including Google Images, Google Search, and the Shopping tab.
When searching for a piece of clothing, look out for a specific prompt on the item.
Simply tap the "Try It On" button when you spot a garment that catches your eye. From there, the platform will guide you to begin your digital fitting experience.
To use Google Try On, users just need to upload a full-body photo of themselves to set up their personal profile
The system handles the rest of the heavy lifting.
Google's backend generative model maps the chosen outfit onto your uploaded image.
The software realistically simulates how the fabric folds and shadows fall within seconds, making the entire experience feel remarkably similar to editing a snapshot inside Google Photos.
