Here's How To Find Hidden Cameras In Your Airbnb And Hotel Rooms
These are two ways you can check.
There has been an increase in the number of cases of people discovering hidden cameras in toilets, Airbnbs, and hotel rooms lately
In October last year, a hidden camera - disguised as a hook - was found at a mamak toilet stall on Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur.
To address this issue, China's state broadcaster CCTV recently released a tutorial on how to spot if there are any hidden cameras in your Airbnb or hotel room
Shanghaiist reported that there are two ways that you can check if there are hidden cameras installed.
1. Shine a flashlight on any areas that have small gaps or holes
Air vents, wall sockets, tissue boxes, screws, plants, clocks, and shampoo bottles are a few of the places that might have a hidden camera.
According to the report, hidden cameras have a special coating that will reflect a green or blue glare if light shines upon it.
2. In complete darkness, use your phone's front-facing camera to scan the room for any areas that may have a spot of light
You will need to switch off all the lights in the room and close any curtains to use this method.
If a blinking violet light appears on your camera, it may be where an infrared camera has been hidden.
