Officially launched in Malaysia on 18 August, I got the opportunity to test out this new release by HONOR. As there is a lot to highlight, let's jump straight into it, shall we?

Aside from the phone itself, the box came with a clear phone case, USB-C charging cable, charger head, and SIM card key

One thing you'll definitely notice about the HONOR 70 5G upon closer inspection is its dual curved edge screen, giving it an aesthetically pleasing and elegant look.

For the Crystal Silver variant, the diamond pattern on the back is a sight to behold, with shimmery particles that sparkle brilliantly in the light. As a fan of shiny things, I was completely mesmerised.

While the HONOR 70 5G does not come with a headphone jack, you can opt to purchase a Type C to earphone aux adapter. But if you're like me and prefer to use wireless earbuds, then it should not be an issue.

One thing I liked is that the phone's ultra-slim and lightweight design allowed me to hold it comfortably in my hand as I navigated through the apps

The HONOR 70 5G screen display measures 6.67 inches, boasting an OLED 58° curved punch hole display. You'll also find that the fingerprint scanner is located on the bottom screen itself, which is easily within reach for your thumb.

It comes with 120Hz refresh rate, making swiping across the screen smoother and quicker. Even from the home screen itself, the display appears crisp and clear, thanks to its 2400 x 1080 resolution.

But above all, I was excited to test out the HONOR 70 5G's triple rear camera setup, as well as its front camera

Featuring dual ring cameras on the back, it has a 54MP SONY IMX800 1/1.49 inch sensor, a 50MP 122° ultra-wide and macro main camera, and a 2MP depth camera.

Those who aren't a fan of camera bumps may not like the dual ring camera built-up at the back, as it is slightly raised. Although, its ability to take stunning photographs makes up for this drawback.

The 54MP super sensing camera is meant to capture more light for brighter and more detailed images, and is also equipped with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS), bringing enhanced stability for clarity.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well the photos turned out under low-light conditions. Using the Night Mode feature really helped in capturing details such as the bright neon lights in all their glory.

Even during the day, you can capture beautiful OOTDs that'll look great on your Instagram feed.

Here are photos I captured of my friend, and our delicious big breakfast meal:

I even tested out the HONOR 70 5G's macro camera on the flowers growing outside my condominium, and it did a good job of capturing the small details

As for the front camera, it has a 32MP super clear selfie camera, with which I was able to capture an impressive backlit selfie

Those who love vlogging will surely appreciate the Solo Cut Mode that auto tracks a specific person while recording!

When you enable Solo Cut Mode, simply tap on the track frame to start tracking the person's movements.

Here's the video with the full view, recorded in landscape mode:

And here is the motion tracking video that was recorded simultaneously:

As you can see, the focus is only staying on my friend as she walks around the room. This mode produces two videos at the same time, one including the full view and the other including the solo view only.

The simultaneously recorded videos both support 1080P HD stream, beauty effect, and the EIS algorithm, so you won't have to worry about either video compromising on quality.

The HONOR 70 5G comes with a massive 4,800mAh battery, which is more than enough to last you through the day.

I then tested out charging the smartphone with the provided HONOR 66W SuperCharge Charger.

While the HONOR 70 5G was advertised to charge up to 60% within 20 minutes, it took slightly longer for me. However, it was fully charged within an hour. If you often charge your phone at the last minute before leaving home (like me), you'll find this feature useful.

In a nutshell, suffice to say that the HONOR 70 5G has a lot to offer, from its beautiful symmetrical slim design to its photography and videography capabilities

It's clear to see that this smartphone is catered to those who love taking picture-perfect photographs and creating videos for vlogging or social media such as Instagram and TikTok.

If you're planning to use your smartphone for the above functions, then the HONOR 70 5G is a great option to consider.
