HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate: All You Need To Know About The World's First Tri-fold Smartphone
It will cost you over RM12,000.
HUAWEI has introduced the Mate XT Ultimate, which it touts as the world's first tri-folding smartphone
When fully unfolded, the device features a massive 10.2-inch display, perfect for users who desire a smartphone with a tablet-like experience.
Folding one section behind reduces it to a 7.9-inch foldable, while folding both sides transforms it into a compact 6.4-inch bar-style phone, making it incredibly versatile.
What's astounding is that despite this intricate design, the phone remains impressively thin at just 3.6 mm when unfolded and weighs 298 grams.
The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate boasts a single flexible LTPO OLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 10 billion colours
With a resolution of 3,184 x 2,232 pixels, the screen adjusts automatically depending on how the phone is folded. HUAWEI refers to this as a "3K" display, positioning it between 2K and 4K resolutions, with a screen-to-body ratio of 92%.
The phone's triple-display modes are designed to suit different tasks, from reading and working to browsing.
The single-screen mode is great for everyday activities, while the dual-screen mode is ideal for web browsing or multitasking, and the full 10.2-inch unfolded screen is designed for detailed work or study.
The Mate XT Ultimate's display features a sophisticated camera system
The primary 50MP sensor, borrowed from the HUAWEI Mate X5, has optical image stabilisation (OIS) and is capable of taking photos in varying lighting conditions.
The camera setup also includes a 12MP telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and laser autofocus.
For selfies, an 8MP front camera is embedded in a punch-hole on the large display.
One of the standout features of the HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate is its hinge system, which complements its productivity features
Named after the Tiangong space station, this hinge allows for both internal and external bending, thanks to its dual tracks and moving parts.
Made from composite laminate materials with non-Newtonian fluid components, the hinge ensures smooth folding with no gaps and adds to the device's durability.
Running on HarmonyOS 4.2, the smartphone is designed for productivity, offering features like email management, multitasking, and advanced AI tools. HUAWEI’s Xiaoyi voice assistant offers voice-to-text conversion, real-time document translation, and automatic split-screen functionality, enhancing the device's usability.
Despite its thin, sleek design the Mate XT Ultimate is powered by a 5,600mAh battery, rivalling its competitors in battery life
It supports fast 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging at 7.5W.
Available only in China at the moment, the HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate comes in three storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, with prices ranging from 19,999 yuan (RM12,157.39) to 23,999 yuan (RM14,588.99).
HUAWEI has not revealed when the smartphone will be made available internationally.
