HUAWEI is set to launch its groundbreaking tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT, on 10 September

The launch will be highlighted by a promotional video featuring Andy Lau, the iconic actor and singer, who serves as the brand ambassador for Huawei's Ultimate Design line.

The Mate XT's launch will take place just hours after Apple unveils its iPhone 16.

In a clear sign that the Chinese tech giant is taking on its US counterpart head-on, HUAWEI's event is scheduled for 10 September at 2.30 pm Beijing time, which corresponds to late evening on 9 September in the US.

According to leaks, the rear of the device will house a quad-camera setup, including a periscope module, though specific sensor details are still under wraps.

The Mate XT will be available in two storage variants: 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB.

Buyers can choose between two colour options: black and maroon. While HUAWEI has yet to disclose additional specifications, leaks suggest the phone will feature a 10-inch folding screen and a 5G-enabled Kirin chipset.

HUAWEI teased the Mate XT through 40-second short video featuring Hong Kong singer, actor and film producer Andy Lau

In the video, Lau can be seen reminiscing about his filmmaking journey, with the Mate XT by his side.

While the pricing for the HUAWEI Mate XT remains unconfirmed, estimates place the tri-fold smartphone between RM9,760 and RM10,370.

Pre-orders are open until September 19, with official sales commencing the following day. Over two million reservations have already been recorded since the Mate XT became available for pre-order.
