A traffic police officer is now struggling with memory loss symptoms after being hit by a teenage mat rempit more than a month ago

According to Harian Metro, the incident occurred at KM36 of the Kajang-Seremban Highway (LEKAS) on 28 July when the errant motorcyclist rode against traffic.

Negeri Sembilan traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Supt Muhammad Zaki Ramat said while the police officer's condition is improving, he still speaks little due to memory loss.

"In that incident, the victim suffered severe head injuries and was admitted to the intensive care unit before being transferred to a normal ward.

"He was discharged from the ward on 16 August, but as of today, he has not fully recovered and is still unable to return to work," he said.

Muhammad Zaki added that the officer's colleagues and friends frequently visit him to provide support and assistance.

The traffic police officer and the teenager were seriously injured in the collision on 28 July.

Both the teenager and police officer suffered severe head and leg injuries. They were taken to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for treatment, reported the New Straits Times.
