The Pokémon Company corporate officer Susumu Fukunaga said Malaysia may finally get its first official Pokémon Center should these limited-time pop-up stores prove to be a success

Speaking to the media, Fukunaga quipped that the official symbol and flagship Pokémon for the Pokémon Center in Malaysia — should we get one — may be Ditto.

"Whether it can actually be Ditto, we can't guarantee," he added, much to the amusement of the media present.

Fun fact: Pokémon Center Singapore's official symbol and flagship Pokémon is Solgaleo (it was previously Lapras), chosen to represent the Lion City.

The free-to-enter event is touring five major Asian cities, making its inaugural stop right here in the capital.

"We wanted PokéXciting! to feel bigger than just an event — it's a celebration to thank all the fans across Asia for their support over the past three decades," Fukunaga said.

Fukunaga noted that starting the tour in Malaysia holds special significance for the brand.

Attendees can look forward to the country's first Pokémon drone show, featuring dazzling 3D animations lighting up the night sky against the Petronas Twin Towers.
