The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is also the first Galaxy product to incorporate recyclyed polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is sourced from discarded plastic water bottles
The recycled PET plastic is used in the back glass and front case of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, which also comprises 80% recycled PET bottles, 22% recycled glass, and 20% ocean-bound plastic.
Samsung has also incorporated a wider variety of recycled materials, including pre-consumer recycled aluminium and glass, in their Galaxy devices. By continuing to increase recycled materials in Galaxy devices, this helps them reduce their impact on the environment.
For instance, with ocean-bound plastic being used for new phones, Samsung is hoping to prevent over 15 tonnes of discarded fishing nets from entering the world's oceans by the end of 2023.
