Introducing SOLS Solar Academy — a one-year programme that helps people develop technical skills and earn certifications for careers in the solar energy industry

Run by SOLS Foundation, the programme is aimed at providing opportunities for underserved groups, like the Orang Asli/Asal (indigenous) and B40 communities, helping them secure stable jobs while supporting environmental sustainability.

Participants are taught hands-on technical skills in solar installation and maintenance, as well as given the chance to earn industry-relevant certifications to ensure job readiness.

Best of all, upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are guaranteed to receive job offers from top solar companies, including SOLS Energy and Social Empresa.

The programme structure consists of three months of theory, three months of practical training, and six months of apprenticeship

First, participants experience classroom-based learning focused on technical knowledge, safety protocols, and solar energy fundamentals. This makes up the three months of theory.

Next, the three months of practical training involve a blended schedule of two days in the classroom and three days working on-site to gain hands-on experience in solar installations under real-world conditions.

Finally, SOLS Solar Academy wraps up with a six-month apprenticeship with SOLS Energy, one of Malaysia's top three solar companies. This unique opportunity allows participants to gain practical experience collaborating with industry experts on actual solar energy projects.

Throughout the process, participants live on-site for a fully immersive training experience, with accommodation, meals, and basic amenities provided for free

Comfortable living arrangements and nutritious meals are provided throughout the training.

During the practical phase, participants will be given an allowance on the days they are working on-site, while the apprenticeship phase will see them receiving a monthly allowance.

SOLS Solar Academy also prides itself on offering access to mentorship sessions by industry leaders, as well as a strong alumni network to support career development.

The first 100 students accepted into the January 2025 intake of SOLS Solar Academy will receive a 100% scholarship worth RM15,000. This covers all costs for the programme.

Malaysian males aged 18 to 30 years old from low-income families who are committed to working in the solar industry are encouraged to apply now for the January 2025 batch via the official website.
