Threads Is Upgrading Its Search Tools To Entice X Users
This move comes amid a wave of users leaving X (formerly Twitter).
Threads, Meta's text-based social app, is introducing new search tools in a clear attempt to stay competitive
The platform now allows users to refine their searches by profile and date range, a feature announced in a post on Threads’ official account.
The update, which will be rolled out globally over the coming weeks, is already accessible to some users.
For those still waiting, the platform assures, "If you don’t see it yet, you will soon."
This move comes amid a wave of users leaving X (formerly Twitter) following Elon Musk's controversial changes
While Bluesky appears to be the current favourite among disillusioned users, Threads is striving to remain in the conversation.
Search refinement might feel like an overdue addition for a social media app, but Threads is steadily catching up.
Just recently, it adopted features reminiscent of Bluesky's community-driven "Starter Packs".
As of September 2024, Threads boasts 200 million users
It needs another 400 million to overtake X. Bluesky, on the other hand, is home to over 24 million users.
Whether these updates are enough to entice users to give Threads a serious chance remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Meta is banking on familiarity to win over the wandering masses.
The question is, will this be enough to elevate Threads into the spotlight it so desperately seeks?
