By now, you probably already know that your identification card (MyKad) can be used as a Touch 'n Go (TNG) card.

However, did you know that it can expire?

Similar to a regular TNG card, your MyKad's TNG system has a 10-year validity period. Meanwhile, the Enhanced TNG card has a lifespan of seven years.

So, if my MyKad's TNG has expired, how do I renew it?

According to Instagram user @iambrosham, you can simply renew it at any LRT station.

Just inform the staff that you would like to extend the validity of your MyKad's TNG and they will be able to renew it for up to three years.

If you still want to use your MyKad as a TNG card after those three years are up, @iambrosham says you will need to change your MyKad.

How do I check whether my MyKad's TNG has expired?

You can find the expiry date on the receipt when you reload the card.

According to MyRapid, you can also find out the 10-digit serial number of your TNG MyKad from the receipt.

This serial number is important as it can be used to add your MyKad to your TNG e-wallet app, allowing you to find out how much balance you have left and its expiry date.

Alternatively, you can obtain the serial number by visiting any TNG self-service kiosk and inserting your MyKad.

You can also inquire about the serial number at any Rapid KL bus or railway customer service office.

If the MyKad's TNG has expired and you no longer want to use it, you may request a refund of your balance

Just click here to request for a refund.

According to TNG, refund requests will be processed within 14 and 30 days from the date of submission.

Alternatively, you can contact their Careline team via email ([email protected]), or @MyTouchnGo on Facebook/X.
