You Can Now Use Touch 'n Go RFID To Pay For Petrol At Shell Stations
88 Shell stations nationwide have been RFID-enabled, with 200 expected by December 2022.
Starting 10 August, you'll be able to go cashless when paying for petrol at Shell stations by using Touch 'n Go RFID
Currently, 88 Shell stations nationwide have been equipped with the ability to accept Touch 'n Go RFID as a payment method. This number is expected to experience twofold by the end of the year, up to 200 petrol stations.
The Touch 'n Go RFID payment method has also been integrated with BonusLink, Shell's loyalty partner. Through this, customers will be able to easily earn loyalty points with each fuel purchase.
Here's how to pay with Touch 'n Go RFID at Shell stations:
Step 1: Link your Touch 'n Go RFID tag to your Touch 'n Go eWallet account. There is a one-time registration and activation through Touch 'n Go eWallet.
Step 2: Upon successful activation, just park your vehicle at the RFID designated fuelling bays.
Step 3: Your vehicle will be detected within seconds and payment will be auto-debited from your Touch n' Go eWallet, allowing you to proceed with filling petrol. Any unutilised amount will be immediately refunded to your Touch 'n Go eWallet account.
From now to 16 September, Shell and Touch 'n Go are rewarding the first 25,000 customers who use Touch 'n Go RFID to pump petrol with a RM10 cashback
All you have to do is pump a minimum of RM50 on your first Touch 'n Go RFID transaction at Shell. You must be a first-time user of this feature to be eligible for the cashback.
"We're extremely pleased to have so quickly been able to expand the RFID use case beyond road tolling," said Effendy Shahul Hamid, Group Chief Executive Officer, Touch 'n Go Group
"Customers can now make payments at Shell stations without requiring any interaction with an app on their mobile phones or engaging with a point-of-sale system, as payment is made via Touch 'n Go eWallet linked to the users' Touch 'n Go RFID.
"Thus far, we have been focused on promoting RFID as a toll payment method, but in actuality, the combination of a RFID and eWallet infrastructure allows us to expand its use case beyond tolling. As we've shown, fuelling is an additional use case and we will be expanding the RFID use case into more areas as we go on.
"We are fortunate to have found a like-minded partner in Shell, who aligns with our ambition to provide customers with a cashless, contactless driving experience, and is helping us pave the way towards delivering more innovative offerings for both sets of our customers," he added.
