1. Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton visited SMK Seri Keramat last month

The seven-time world champion surprised Malaysians when he made an appearance at SMK Seri Keramat in Kuala Lumpur on 15 March.

Hamilton was apparently at the school — ahead of the Australian Grand Prix — as part of a programme by PETRONAS, the Title and Technical Partner to the Mercedes–AMG F1 team.

2. Football legend David Beckham posed with the KLCC towers and played some football with the national women's football team

In February, Beckham paid a visit to KL and was spotted at The Exchange TRX mall for an Adidas event. He also attended a women's football clinic, where he even participated in a training session. 

Oh to be playing football with Beckham himself. :3

3. Iconic singer Mariah Carey also posed with the Twin Towers in 2018, which some cheekily referred to as being in Indonesia

The Grammy Award winner and multi-platinum artiste came down to KL to perform on 16 October 2018.

4. Ed Sheeran painted batik, played badminton, tossed yee sang, and got a shave from a local barber in KL

Ahead of his concert on 24 February, Ed Sheeran was seen doing various activities around KL like batik painting and playing badminton with local content creators. 

5. Lana Condor and Ross Butler visited Batu Caves and enjoyed curry laksa in 2023

Actress Lana Condor and her co-star Ross Butler stopped by KL to film the romantic comedy, Worth The Wait. A release date for the movie has yet to be announced.

Fun fact: Ross Butler is actually half Malaysian! :O

6. Dua Lipa also visited the Batu Caves in 2018 and later said that Kuala Lumpur was the most interesting city she's ever visited

"Exploring KL. Caves, murals, monkeys, and some serious boob sweat," read her caption. Relatable.

7. Gordon Ramsay learned to make beef rendang from a Malaysian aunty in Negeri Sembilan

While filming one of his cooking shows in 2011, Gordon's Great Escape, the British celebrity chef came to Malaysia and rode to Negeri Sembilan on a motorbike to learn how to make beef rendang — the authentic "agak-agak" way.

8. During Paris Hilton's first visit to Kuala Lumpur, she went to Empire City Damansara

The model, singer, and actress came to Damansara Perdana during her first-ever trip to Malaysia. She was in town to perform for 'The Party of the Century' event in Empire City in 2015.

She also came back in September last year to promote her fragrance at SOGO KL.

10. Cesar Millan ate noodles at Lot 10 in 2015

The popular TV host and dog trainer was spotted enjoying a bowl of noodles at Lot 10 prior to his sold-out event, Cesar Millan Live Love Your Dogs Tour 2015.

11. Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan was awarded a Datukship in KL by the former Agong

The renowned actor wore a songkok and black suit to receive the Datukship award, which was granted to him at the Istana Negara in 2015. Although, many had questioned why he was given the honorary title. 

12. The Crazy Rich Asians cast visited six different locations in Malaysia to film the movie

13. Billie Eilish and Finneas went go-karting at Sungei Wang Plaza in 2022

Before her concert in Malaysia, Billie Eilish was spotted by fans heading to Sungei Wang Plaza. She later posted a photo of her go-karting at the mall's go-kart centre.

14. Will Smith was seen walking around Mid Valley Megamall in 2016

It remains unclear what the Hollywood actor was doing at the mall in KL, but it is believed that he came for a meeting with the KL-based streaming company, iflix.

15. UK rock band Muse spent a family holiday in Langkawi

The band and their family members were spotted arriving in Langkawi for a holiday ahead of their Will Of The People World Tour concert in July 2023.

16. California-based band Peach Tree Rascals ate at Jalan Alor

With Good Vibes Festival 2023 cancelled, one of the invited bands made use of their time by eating and chilling with several fans at Jalan Alor.

17. The Flash superhero Thomas Grant Gustin got married in Sabah in 2017

The Flash star and his wife, Andrea "LA" Thoma Gustin, who is half Kadazan, got married in a traditional Kadazan wedding ceremony in Sabah. Check out some of the photos from their ceremony here.

18. Hong Kong singer and dancer Aaron Kwok tossed yee sang earlier this year
