People are taking their hair colour trends to the next level by applying special black light sensitive hair dye to create a motley of neon colours that glow under UV light

Yes, even guys are jumping into the bandwagon of colours too!

Okay, here's the thing: these super cool hair dyes aren't so new after all. Apparently, they have been in the market since the 70s.

Glow-in-the-dark hair dye is nothing new but it has soared in popularity over the past few weeks, with more women than ever experimenting with the look and sharing the photos on Instagram.

Dye brand Manic Panic is believed to be responsible for the surge in popularity.

The US company has been making glow-in-the-dark colours since the 1970s but has now reportedly seen a huge boost in sales as the high-vis trend has taken off.

Hairstylist Elizabeth Davis of Hilights Salon from Lyndhurst, New Jersey told TODAY that more money and commitment will be required for those with darker hair as the pre-lightening process will take a longer time.

Ideally, a professional hair color line should leave the hair feeling soft and conditioned, not brittle and fragile, she explained.
