Malaysia Airlines has become the official airline of football club Manchester United after the two entities entered a multi-year partnership

According to Manchester United's official website, the partnership was announced by Malaysia Aviation Group group managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail during an industry trade fair in Kuala Lumpur.

Izham said the partnership will expose Malaysia Airlines to a vast international audience.

"It significantly boosted brand recognition, especially in Europe and Southeast Asia where United has a large fanbase.

"We are delighted to announce this exciting partnership with Manchester United, a club synonymous with excellence and sporting passion around the world," the New Straits Times quoted him as saying.

Manchester United legends Patrice Evra and Wes Brown were also present at the announcement, having been flown to the capital city on Malaysia Airlines

"Manchester United has fans from all over the world, and the passionate support we have here in Asia never fails to impress me," said Evra.

"I am pleased to be able to share our partnership with Malaysia Airlines with those fans and introduce them to the best-in-class service they offer.

"Wes and I travelled here on Malaysia Airlines, and I would like to thank them for such a comfortable journey. From the food to the comfortable seats and friendly service, everything was perfect," he added.
