After her historic Oscar Award win for Best Actress in a Leading Role this past March, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh returned to Malaysia with the coveted statue in hand

Yesterday, 19 April, the actress made an appearance at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur for Pride Of Malaysia: Michelle Yeoh, her first local public fan meet since winning the coveted Oscar award. With thousands flocking to the shopping centre, Malaysians were seen crowding the mall's main entrance for a chance to meet her.

Taking to the makeshift stage placed in the centre court for the fan meet, Yeoh had a chance to speak to the crowd and express her gratitude for their continuous support.

In a clip that was posted to Hot FM's TikTok page, Yeoh displayed her clear emotion towards the pack of people who had come to celebrate her for that brief moment.

"Thank you so much. Thank you. I feel your love and I deeply appreciate it. All your support, all your encouragement, always — I feel it even when I'm not in Malaysia, because wherever I am, you are always in my hearts. I am truly Malaysian," said the actress before lifting her award in the air.

After receiving much-deserved praise from Malaysian fans in person, others chimed in under the TikTok to express how proud they are of Yeoh too

From wishing her well to praising her for her amazing talents, many applauded the actress for how humble she was despite winning one of the most prestigious acting awards of all time. Others even opined that she officially ranks as a beloved icon.

"Michelle Yeoh, we love you, [we are] so proud of you. Keep grabbing more opportunities in your work and do Malaysia proud, always," wrote on TikTok user.
