1. "Around RM2,000"

"My wife and I take ang pow money from our joint account, and we try to pack extra every year, just in case. We usually end up with extra ang pow that we don't give out, and this becomes our cash stash (like free money). This year, we ended up giving out all the ang pows though. Sad."

- Jeremy, 29

2. "RM200... times are bad"

"I want to say it's the thought that counts, but Chinese being Chinese... some people are very calculative."

- Rae Lyn, 41

3. "Including my parents, I gave out RM3,500"

"I gave my parents RM2,000. I'm feeling very poor now. But my baby collect a loooooot. So it's kind of balanced lah."

6. "All in, we packed around RM3,000 worth of ang pow"

"Of course, we gave the most to our parents and grandparents. In terms of giving out the rest of the ang pow, we maybe haven't even given out half yet. We haven't really been to many open houses and don't have plans to host our own this year."

- Tan, 39

12. "I give my father RM1,000 to pack ang pow to give his children and grandchildren"

"I think my case is a bit different from other people. I will spare my dad RM1,000 to pack ang pow for his children and grandchildren, as well as giving him an ang pow to keep for himself. Then from me, I'll give out around RM1,500. Only on RM100, RM50, RM20, RM10, and RM5 notes."
