Chinese New Year is a time for family reunions and one man in Jiangsu, China decided that his canine companions wouldn't miss out on the festivities

The man, known as Zhou, shared a series of wholesome videos on Xiaohongsu, showing his dogs tagging along on his travels back to his hometown.

For this epic journey, he drove an off-road vehicle, with six dogs comfortably resting in the trunk. Meanwhile, three more were riding in style in a transparent dog house securely strapped to the back of the car.

With the back seat window open, Zhou and all nine of his dogs embarked on a three-hour road trip for the Chinese New Year celebrations

Among Zhou's pack were Huskies, Shiba Inus, a Dalmatian, French Bulldogs, and Corgis.

"The dogs were excited when they first got into the car, and then they all fell asleep," Zhou was quoted saying in the Sing Tao Daily.

To avoid attracting too much attention and potential accidents, he opted to take quieter country roads instead of the highway.

"Many pedestrians on the road were taking pictures of us," he said.

The journey wasn't without its challenges. Every hour or so, the canine crew needed a break for fresh air and, well, "business".

Concerned about alarming other travellers, Zhou chose secluded rest stops in deserted woods and paths.

He explained that his off-road vehicle is specifically designed for transporting his dogs, featuring a washable interior with drainage holes, addressing netizens' concerns about cleanliness.

Anyone who's ever made the balik kampung journey knows that feeling of finally arriving.

And these canine travellers looked just as relieved to have reached their destination.

As soon as Zhou opened trunk door, the dogs came spilling out of the car, excited to finally stretch their legs.

Even though there were a lot of troubles along the way, Zhou said it was worth it, adding, "They are all like my family, and we will go home together for the New Year."
