The third session of the 14th Parliament finally convened yesterday, 26 July, the first time since the proclamation of Emergency earlier this year

Not only was the first day of the Parliament sitting filled with yelling from all sides of the political spectrum, but we also witnessed the Dewan Rakyat Speaker losing his temper.

With possibly millions of Malaysians tuning in from home, watching the Parliament sitting yesterday was not just to keep up with the political developments of the nation — it was also an outlet to look for the next meme.

Thanks to fellow Malaysians' creativity and humour, social media was inundated with many memes and hilarious responses after the Parliament sitting ended.

Here are our 15 top picks:

1. "Name also cannot be consistent"

Short context: In June, it was announced that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will begin using his official name — Mahiaddin Md Yasin — in formal documents.

2. A drastic difference between Malaysia and Singapore

3. Azmin's 'presentation' did not go as well as he planned

Short context: Yesterday, International Trade and Industry Minister Azmin Ali held up a large printout to tell the august House that only 8.8% of the COVID-19 clusters came from the manufacturing sector. He also had a large printout showing an article.

As the minister was delivering his presentation, Puchong member (MP) of Parliament Gobind Singh Deo took a jab at Azmin for 'reading from the slide'.

Even PKR communications director and Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil tweeted about it. Below is the footage of the incident.

4. The general consensus of Twitterjaya is that Azmin did not need the printout nor the chart

5. "It's a chart! I must be right!"

10. Later, Mat Sabu upgraded the already infamous #LangkahSheraton to #LangkahSyaitan during a speech

Known for drawing a large crowd at Bersih rallies and campaigns leading up to the General Elections (GEs), the Amanah president won many netizens' hearts with the analogy.

11. Yup, Mat Sabu indirectly called those who participated in #LangkahSheraton 'demons'

12. Lim Guan Eng and Mat Sabu should be everybody's friendship goal

13. Taking MPs' speeches out of context was also netizens' favourite pastime yesterday

Short context: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was talking about the many failed plans that the government initiated to help the rakyat.

14. This included using Syed Saddiq's words as a battle cry

Short context: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was taking a swipe at UMNO MPs for staying silent during the Parliament sitting and asking whether they were afraid of those in power.

"When we look at this PN (Perikatan Nasional) government, don't kid ourselves, this is not a Bersatu government alone. Where's UMNO? In social media, they make so much noise, but in the Dewan Rakyat, they're all quiet, they don't say anything," said the former youth and sports minister.

"Don't be afraid. If they want to threaten you, let them. Kita lawan (we fight). They (UMNO MPs) say on social media that the government has failed, but in the Dewan Rakyat they are quiet, they leave."

"If you want to oppose the government, oppose properly. The people are watching and evaluating you."

15. While it was a day with many fresh memes, some Malaysians could not help but feel sad about the political instability in the nation
