This Uncle's Pre-Recorded Sales Pitch To Sell Kuih Is So Sad, It's Good

We often hear it in pasar malams, where a pre-recorded voice will be telling customers about the items they're selling over a speaker.
We also hear it blasted from trucks and vans that drive by our neighbourhoods calling for old newspapers.
"Old newspaper, paper lama."
One pre-recording of an uncle selling kuih in Singapore, however, has garnered significant attention after its recent sharing on TikTok
Account user @fai_star_restaurant shared a video of some kuih being sold at a Housing & Development Board (HDB) flat in Singapore.
The kuih boxes are seen on the table accompanied by a small speaker playing a pre-recorded message in an uncle's voice.
But it isn't the kuih that have received attention, it's the voice recording.

In the most monotonous tone, an uncle can be heard saying, "Three bok, two dolla. One bok, one dolla."
"When it's year end and [you] can't be bothered to work anymore," reads the caption on the video.
"Sad until wanna hug the kuih," the user added, mentioning that they bought one box out of pity because of how sad the pre-recording sounded.
Regardless, the recording seemed to have worked, as people have also commented that they would totally buy a box of kuih if they were there
