This Hari Raya is seeing many separated families celebrating together in their hometowns for the first time in two years due to the pandemic
One such awaited reunion was shared on TikTok by user @izzulsuha, whose heartwarming video of her surprising her mother in Kedah has garnered over 750,000 views.
Siti Nasuha Abdullah, fondly known as Suha, has not been home to Malaysia in over two years since she got married and moved to Singapore in 2020.
The 23-year-old told The Straits Times that she met her 24-year-old Singaporean husband, Shaik Izzul Mujahid, on Instagram that same year and got engaged.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and travelling restrictions, Izzul has only met Suha's mother twice and Suha has terribly missed her own family, having never stayed away from home before.
"[Suha's] really gone through a lot and loves her mother so much," Izzul said, while Suha herself expressed regret by not being able to be with her mother when she tested positive for COVID-19 last year.

Therefore, when both countries announced the reopening of their land borders for fully vaccinated travellers from 1 April, they made plans to travel back to Kedah
The couple said they wanted to surprise Suha's mother after they were inspired by other Malaysians returning from Singapore on TikTok.
Suha initially told her mother that she could not come home for Hari Raya as she and her husband were still settling into their new jobs.
So last week, they both went back to Suha's family home and she climbed into a delivery box while Izzul disguised himself as a deliveryman who pretended to drop off the package to her mother.

The video captures the touching moment as Suha's 62-year-old mother opens the box and embraces her daughter for the first time in two years
Suha said her mother cried and the first thing she asked was: "Why did you come in a box? Did you come alone? Where is Izzul?"
Happy to be reunited in Kedah, the couple plans to spend three weeks in Malaysia before returning to Singapore to celebrate Hari Raya with Izzul's family.
