New York-based interior decorating magazine House Beautiful recently curated a list where they named the most beautiful streets in the world

Titled, "40 of the Most Beautiful Streets in the World That Will Stop You in Your Tracks", the list rounds up streets across the continents for readers to bookmark before their next adventure.

From Instagrammable locations to concentrated roads and even pretty passageways, the list features "pastel colours galore, unique architectural details, and the most charm."

"And at the risk of sounding cliché with a quote about the journey being more important than the destination, we have to say that sometimes the most memorable parts of a vacation are the ones spent wandering around a new town without any itinerary at all," wrote Elly Leavitt, the writer of the piece.

Known as The Philosopher's Path, this street in Kyoto, Japan, placed 10th on the list.

While all 40 locations included places from Greece to South Africa, California and even Italy, a very special street in Malaysia rose to clinch the 17th spot on the list

Listing Penang, the magazine proceeded to praise George Town, in particular, for its lively street art and even more famed street food.

"If it's architectural eye candy you're after, head to Jalan Kek Chuan to peruse the ornately detailed shops that blend Eastern and Western designs," continued the piece.

Littered with elegant yet timeless lamps, each row within the road is colourfully painted with a variety of tones that brighten up its passage with each step taken.

Out of the entire list, Penang is one of only two Southeast Asian cities to make the lineup, with the other street being Soi Romanee in Phuket at 19th place

Rounding off the top three spots on the list in ascending order is Cape Town's Bo-Kaap neighbourhood in South Africa, which placed third, while Acorn Street in Boston, Massachusetts of America placed second.

Claiming the top spot at number one was Akti Pavlou, a main road alongside the Symi Harbour of Greece.

Among some of the other countries to make the list included Mexico, Italy, France, Morocco, Portugal, Denmark, China, Turkey, Norway, and Egypt.
