A 78-year-old woman, who lost her husband 42 years ago and has eight children, 44 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, remarried a 77-year-old man over the weekend in Kuala Lumpur

Rohani Mohd Kassim never thought she would ever remarry, but fate had other plans.

According to Rohani, her friends introduced her to Yusof Embi, her new husband.

She shared that she accepted Yusof's marriage proposal on the first day of Ramadan this year, after her large, blended family, especially her children, gave their approval, reported Harian Metro on 28 April.

"I have been a widow for 42 years and my children already have their own lives. Now Allah has opened my heart to accept a life partner again and I really want to find someone who can be an imam and a companion," the housewife was quoted as saying by the Malay daily yesterday.

Rohani said Yusof proposed just a week after getting to know each other

Rohani, who said that she's grateful for the blessings from her children and grandchildren, expressed her joy about the wedding and the overwhelming support from both families.

"Alhamdulillah, we are married and most importantly, we have received blessings from both families, and even my children, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren support this sincere intention. I am certainly happy that everything went smoothly, and I hope that this relationship will last until Jannah," she added.

Meanwhile, Yusof also expressed joy that the wedding went smoothly

"There was no feeling of nervousness during the solemnisation ceremony, perhaps because of my age," quipped the retired Tenaga Nasional Bhd employee.

According to Yusof, he lost his first wife in 2021.

"Allah allowed me to find love again, especially since my children are busy with their duties," he said, adding that he was immediately drawn to Rohani when he first saw her picture.

"We met at a restaurant and I felt very comfortable with her. Rohani is also well-mannered and her sense of humour makes me open my heart to marry her," he added.
