1st Monday Of Every June Will Now Be A Public Holiday To Celebrate Agong's Birthday

Are you the one who always whines about public holidays falling on Saturdays?

Good news, Malaysians. The government has agreed to make the first Monday of every June a public holiday to commemorate the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's birthday.

Beginning 2021, the Agong's birthday will celebrate on the first Monday of every June

The announcement was made by Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali in a statement today, 4 March.

It will apply throughout Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah's reign.

"The King's official birthday is also a public holiday," The Edge Markets reported him as saying.

For this year, the public holiday has been amended to Monday, 8 June

The celebration was originally set for Saturday, 6 June.
