Dewan Rakyat Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof has suspended Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for making a racial remark against Jelutong MP RSN Rayer today, 3 December

The august House heard Tajuddin asking if the Hindu holy ash - or vibhuti - on Rayer's forehead was made with former Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader Chin Peng's ashes, reported Malaysiakini.

The altercation happened during Question Time when Rayer asked Education Minister Maszlee Malik if the schools will teach students about Pakatan Harapan leaders such as the late Karpal Singh and Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang.

Rayer contended that they are a much better role model compared to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Baling MP Azeez Abdul Rahim then suggested that students should also learn about the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)

The House heard a floor of outcry from Rayer and other DAP MPs.

There are currently four DAP assemblymen facing charges for supporting LTTE, a now-defunct militant organisation.

Amidst the altercation, Tajuddin interjected and asked if it was Chin Peng's ashes applied on Rayer's forehead

"Excuse me, is that Chin Peng's ashes or what?"
Tajuddin

"I don't want Jelutong to be accused of wearing 'Chin Peng's ashes' on his forehead," the Pasir Salak MP said while laughing.

Tajuddin said it twice before Rayer acknowledged it and said such a remark was "an insult to the Hindus in Malaysia"

Rayer demanded Tajuddin to retract the remark, to which he complied and said, "Okay lah, I retract lah, there is no problem."

Chaos continued thereon in the House, where BN lawmakers were heard criticising Rayer for accusing BN of insulting Hindus.

Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Teong stood up to say Tajuddin was inciting racial-religious tension and that it was unacceptable.

Having had enough of the altercation, the Dewan Rakyat Speaker ordered Tajuddin and Khoo to leave the house and suspended them for two days

Khoo was told to leave because he ignored Ariff's instruction to stop bringing up the matter, reported Free Malaysia Today.

As for Tajuddin, the Pasir Salak MP sarcastically thanked the Speaker for the suspension as he needed to attend an UMNO meeting.

"Just as well, I have an UMNO general assembly to attend. You should give me four days," Tajuddin said.

Chin Peng's ashes became a controversial topic again last month after it was reported that the former communist leader's ashes were scattered into Malaysian waters and around Titiwangsa's mountain range

New Straits Times reported that Chin Peng's ashes were brought into Malaysia on 16 September and a memorial ceremony, attended by some 150 individuals, was held.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Azis Jamman said the authorities only learned about it after it was reported by a news portal.
