A 30-year-old man died after crashing into a cow on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) while heading from Jalan Duta toll plaza towards Sungai Buloh

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief ACP Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said the incident occurred at 4.55am yesterday, 18 June, reported the New Straits Times.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was driving in the rightmost lane before colliding with the cow.

The victim lost control of his vehicle and hit a road divider.

"The self-employed driver suffered severe injuries and died at the scene," said Sarifudin.

China Press reported that the cow died at the scene as well.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving

Photos published by China Press showed that two lanes on the highway were cordoned off following the accident.

Measuring roughly 1.8m, the cow took up around half of a lane on the highway.

The Chinese daily noted that the victim's vehicle, a Toyota 86, had an Initial D sticker on it. The vehicle is the latest model of the protagonist's vehicle from the popular anime.
