"Why Is This Happening To Us?" — Palestinian Asks After Israel Kills Dozens In A Camp
"We were praying in the mosque when we heard the explosion, and (came to find) that everything was gone. It is a massacre," said one of the survivors of Israel's latest airstrikes.
"It is a massacre," said one eyewitness at the scene of Israel's latest attack on Jabalia refugee camp north of Gaza on Wednesday, 1 November, as people and medics searched in rubble for survivors
"There was an explosion — it was a strike that hit the camp. We were praying in the mosque when we heard the explosion, and (came to find) that everything was gone. It is a massacre," he added.
Israeli army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht told CNN earlier, "There was a very senior Hamas commander in that area. We're looking into it and we'll be coming out with more data as we learn what happened there."
Wednesday's attack followed Israeli airstrikes that hit the densely populated refugee camp in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, 31 October, killing at least 50 Palestinians and a Hamas commander who the army said was a ringleader of what it called the "murderous terror attack" on Israel on 7 October.
One resident of the camp said several strikes hit them one after the other
"We were sitting in peace, we haven't done anything, all of a sudden strikes hit us one after the other, and we don't understand anything, we don't have any (Hamas) fighters in here, it was a safe and secure place, why is this happening to us?" asked the resident after Israeli airstrikes killed tens of people.
