M'sian Woman Exposes Her 'BFF' Who Created A Fake Boyfriend To Manipulate Her
The victim thought she was having a long-distance relationship with someone living in Singapore, but it turns out he did not exist at all.
A story about two 'best friends forever' (BFFs) and a non-existent boyfriend has shaken up social media in Malaysia over the past few days
So much so that GSC, a local cinema chain that has a cheeky online presence, 'awarded' Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actress, among other Oscar statuettes, to a person in the story.
At the time of this writing, the fabulist in that circle of friends — named Rachel — made a public apology for all of her mistakes in an Instagram post.
Her apology comes after the victim, known only as KY in this article, exposed Rachel's years-long lies through hundreds of Instagram Stories in December 2020.
It would be difficult to capture every single deception that Rachel orchestrated in a single article. So here is a summary of how Rachel manipulated KY over the course of two years, an ordeal which many netizens have described as "a drama series that not even writers at TVB can create".

The story started when Rachel and KY met during an event in December 2018
After some chatting, they both learnt that they share the same birthdate.
Perhaps it was the coincidence that helped flourish a strong friendship between the two. The two grew closer as days went by.
But as they got closer, Rachel started moving up her pawns in an attempt to seize the queen, which in the case is KY's heart.
Knowing that a friend can only take up so much attention in a person's life, Rachel made up a non-existent person named Daniel and introduced him to KY as her 'godbrother'.
Rachel used photos of a good-looking person from Instagram to set up Daniel's WeChat and Instagram accounts. Daniel only existed in the virtual world.
She concocted a story that her godbrother lived in Singapore and tried to matchmake the two.
KY fell into the trap. In February 2019, KY started talking to Daniel on WeChat, but little did she know it was Rachel who was impersonating him.
To make Daniel appear more real, Rachel even used a voice-changing application and sang classical Chinese love songs to KY.
As months went by, KY fell deeper for Daniel and was in a happy long-distance relationship.

Seeing KY was happy, Rachel then fabricated a narrative where Daniel was diagnosed with blood cancer
While impersonating Daniel, Rachel said he was suffering from leukemia.
She even went through the trouble to source photos online to show medical reports and photographs in the hospital, among others, to paint a verisimilitude.
Whenever KY was in a good mood, Rachel — through Daniel — would tell her that his condition deteriorated.
Every time that happened, KY broke down and cried, feeling helpless that she could not be with her lover in Singapore.
If that was not enough, Rachel even created a 'godmother' character — called Cindy — to emotionally manipulate KY even further.
One time, Rachel devised an incident where Daniel attempted suicide and was rushed to a hospital in Kuala Lumpur
Pretending to be the godmother character, Rachel went to the private hospital in person to take photos and videos and sent them to KY.
In order to make the lie appear more real, Rachel also sent KY her real-time location through Daniel's WeChat account.
Writing on her Instagram Stories, KY said she will never forget the sound made from the medical machines. She was referring to the videos sent by Cindy.

At one point, Rachel — through Cindy — asked if KY wanted to talk to Daniel, who was lying unconscious on the hospital bed.
"I talked for 26 minutes while crying. I bet you were dying from laughter on the other end," KY said.

When Rachel failed to keep up with her lies, she decided to kill off the godmother character
According to RojakLah, Rachel used the death of the godmother to tell how painful it was for her as she could not see her godmother one last time.
That fabrication won KY's sympathy, trust, and heartache.

"She (Rachel) could even make up the story of how the godmother decided to take her in as a goddaughter," KY wrote in the caption of an Instagram Story.
"She said her biological father didn't have time for her, thus the godmother took pity on her and took her in."
KY said Rachel self-acted and self-directed in every scenario and wondered what was inside her head.
"You are the most psychotic person I have met in my entire life," KY chastised Rachel.
On 2 January, Rachel took to Instagram to apologise to KY. The post has garnered more than 4,500 likes as of publishing time.
"Over the past two years, I have been friends with her (KY) and also chatted with her as the boyfriend (Daniel) in order to rope her close to me, controlling her emotions and life for two years," Rachel wrote.
"Today, I cannot forgive myself for causing her so much harm, especially when she used to trust me and treat me sincerely."
"Once again, I want to say sorry to KY and her family. Sorry for the harm I caused to you."
Rachel also apologised to two other friends, who she stole their clothes from, and pretended their mansions and a sports car were hers, among other things.

After the incident blew up, many Malaysians flocked to her Instagram account to ask why she did all that
"You look so gorgeous, but why do you want to do such a thing? You forsook your virtue," read a top comment.
"You are one person, but you could play three protagonists. You are so awesome," a netizen said sarcastically.
"I personally suggest that you go to see a psychiatrist. In my opinion, I think you are psychologically abnormal," a person added.
