Malaysians Can Take This RM6 Train To Hat Yai Again Beginning 15 July

With the relaxation of travel restrictions, Malaysians will be able to travel into Thailand by train again beginning this Friday, 15 July
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has announced that it will be resuming its Hat Yai-Padang Besar shuttle trains back to regular operation as it was two years ago.
The train service had ceased operations since 18 March 2020, the start of the Movement Control Order (MCO), due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hat Yai is the biggest town in southern Thailand that is closest to Malaysia and is popular among tourists for its floating markets, Thai food, and handicrafts.
A one-way ticket from Padang Besar to Hat Yai costs THB50 (RM6).
According to the schedule, there are only two Padang Besar-Hat Yai return trips daily.
You are encouraged to buy your tickets ahead of time on the SRT booking website.

From Padang Besar to Hat Yai, there are only two timings: train number 948 departing at 9.55am (Malaysia time) and train number 950 at 4.40pm (Malaysia time).
To get to Padang Besar station, Malaysians can choose to take the KTM Komuter (that comes from Butterworth, Penang) or ETS train (that comes from as far as Kuala Lumpur and Gemas, Negeri Sembilan) that ends at Padang Besar.
The ETS train ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Padang Besar costs between RM80 to RM110 one way.

From Hat Yai to Padang Besar, there are two timings: train number 947 departing at 7.30am (Thailand time, GMT+7) and train number 949 at 2.00pm (Thailand time, GMT+7).
Malaysians can travel back home by KTM Komuter or ETS trains from Padang Besar station.
