Man Who Pled Guilty To Drug Possession Requests Lower Bail Because He Has Cats To Feed

In a recent case at the Shah Alam magistrate's court, a man pleaded guilty to drug possession and requested a lower bail amount, citing the need to feed his cats among other commitments

According to the New Straits Times, the accused, Erwan Abdul Ghani, was charged with possession of 4.3g of marijuana at a house in Kampung Paya Jaras, Sungai Buloh.

The charge, under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Farah Sofea Norazman proposed setting bail at RM8,000 for the accused, who was unrepresented

However, Erwan pleaded for a lower bail amount, stating, "I hope the bail can be reduced as I have many commitments, including cats that need to be fed."

Magistrate Sasha Diana Sabtu set bail at RM3,800 with one surety and scheduled 7 June for sentencing.
