A public university student has been apprehended by the authorities for allegedly making and uploading pornographic videos of himself with a female student on X, where each video was sold for RM150

In a statement today, 14 November, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said they recorded the male student's statement to assist in investigations.

The student is alleged to have turned selling the videos into a steady source of income, earning RM3,000 a month.

"Initial investigations revealed that the suspect's activities began in 2021, with him re-uploading existing explicit content shared by other users on X, which at the time was known as Twitter," the MCMC stated.

However, he later adopted a new strategy, shifting to creating and selling his own explicit content, which featured himself with the female student at a private higher learning institution.

This change in approach led to him amassing over 100,000 followers on the platform.

His "side hustle" ended after public complaints led MCMC to raid a house in Shah Alam, where officers seized a mobile phone and SIM card believed to be used by the student for uploading the videos

The female friend of the suspect was questioned as well to gather more information.

The case is being investigated under Section 233(2) of the Communications and Multimedia Act for using a network service to provide obscene communication for commercial purposes.

If found guilty, the suspect faces a maximum fine of RM50,000, or up to one year in prison, or both.
