Woman Crushed To Death By Container After It Detaches From Trailer

The incident occurred at 9.16am when the victim, Lee Zi Rou, 21, was waiting at the traffic light at the Federal Highway intersection in Bukit Tengah, reported the New Straits Times.
A dashcam video shows the container detaching from the trailer and falling over several vehicles as the trailer was making a left turn.
Photos from the scene show Lee's Perodua Bezza crushed under the container. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers due to severe injuries.
Another victim, Tan Chou Theng, 25, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Members of the public rescued Tan before firefighters arrived, while Lee's body was extricated after 30 minutes using special equipment.
It is understood that Lee was driving alone to work at the time of the incident.
According to The Star, the police have arrested the driver of the trailer. Preliminary alcohol and urine screenings indicated that the driver was not under the influence during the incident.
The case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
