Mattel Apologises After Porn Site Accidentally Listed On Its 'Wicked' Doll Packaging
It was a printing error.
Mattel has issued an apology after a misprinted URL on its Wicked doll packaging accidentally directed people to an adult website
The link was supposed to send consumers to the official WickedMovie.com page, but leaving out the word "movie" led to an awkward and inappropriate redirect.
"We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children," Mattel said in a statement, according to CNN.
To address the mistake, Mattel has pulled thousands of dolls from store shelves and is working on a fix
Meanwhile, the error has caused a spike in the resale value of the dolls online.
Mattel advises anyone who has already bought the dolls to either cover or remove the incorrect URL from the packaging.
The dolls are tied to the excitement around the upcoming Wicked movies, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo
The two-part adaptation of the popular Broadway musical serves as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, offering a fresh take on events before Dorothy's arrival.
Part one hits theatres on 22 November, with the second film set to release in November 2025.
