2 China Men Plead Guilty To Stealing RM5,500 During A Flight To Kuala Lumpur

Two Chinese nationals have been convicted of stealing RM5,500 from two Malaysians during a flight from Penang to Kuala Lumpur on 21 November
According to FMT, He Dapeng, 51, and Xin Min, 61, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Chia Huey Ting at the Balik Pulau Magistrate's Court.
They were charged with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to seven years' jail, a fine, or both upon conviction.
He was charged with stealing RM2,000 belonging to a 33-year-old Malaysian man, while Xin was charged with stealing RM200 and 24,000 Taiwan dollars (about RM3,300) belonging to a 31-year-old man.
The stolen money was recovered and returned to the victims
During the proceedings, deputy public prosecutor R Lushani requested the court to impose a deterrent sentence, stating that the duo must not repeat the offence.
Meanwhile, lawyer Yusuf Idris sought a minimal fine for the accused, saying they both had children and promised to return to China as soon as the case was disposed of.
The court fined He RM2,000 and Xin Min RM3,700, respectively.
Failure to pay the fines will result in three months' jail.
