The police probe comes after videos of the commotion went viral on social media
In a post uploaded by Edisi Siasat on its Telegram channel, incumbent Kuala Selangor PKR branch chief Thiban Subramanian was accused of hiring "gangsters" to threaten the chief of the party's Kuala Selangor women branch.
Thiban denied the allegation and lodged a police report against the Telegram channel.
Speaking in a video, he claimed that the commotion was started by a group of people who constantly made provocations at the meeting.
"They filmed the entire incident. It is possible that they planned to cause trouble and create a viral sensation on the Internet.
"Hence, I have lodged a police report against the Telegram channel as well as individuals who spread the videos to tarnish PKR and my reputation," Thiban said.
