Kelantan's Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks (PERHILITAN) is currently investigating whether a tiger it captured is linked to the deaths of two men in Gerik, Perak and Jeli, Kelantan

According to Bernama, the tiger entered a trap set by PERHILITAN on Saturday, 19 October, after a four-day operation to capture the critically endangered animal.

The first victim, believed to have been mauled by the tiger, was attacked on 15 October while on his way to an outdoor toilet at a construction site in Gerik between 5am and 6am.

The victim's wife witnessed the tiger dragging her husband into a bush.

A day later, on 16 October, the same tiger is believed to have attacked a Myanmar national at a farm in Jeli, who later succumbed to severe injuries to his left thigh.

Below is a video of the captured tiger:

Kelantan PERHILITAN director Mohamad Hafid Rohani said that the captured tiger is in healthy condition and is believed to be around 8 to 10 years old, based on preliminary observations

The tiger has been taken to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre (NWRC) in Sungkai, Perak for further action.

With the successful capture of the tiger, Mohamad Hafid hoped that it would ease farm workers' anxiety.

However, he advised that they remain vigilant and work in groups instead of alone.

According to PERHILITAN's records, there have been six cases of injuries and fatalities from tiger attacks in Kelantan over the past three years.

Prior to the capture, Kosmo! reported that thousands of residents in Kampung Lawar, Pergau were living in fear due to the tiger-related deaths, prompting restaurants in the area to close temporarily.
