[PHOTOS] Massive 5.4M-Wide Sinkhole Appears In Front Of KLIA's Bunga Raya VIP Complex
Be safe!
A large sinkhole, measuring 4.3m in length, 5.4m in width, and 1m in depth, appeared near KLIA's Bunga Raya complex
The sinkhole is suspected to have been caused by a sewage pipe leak.
According to a statement by the Works Ministry, the sinkhole was detected this morning, 25 September, in a paved area between the entrance and exit of the complex, used by VIP guests and dignitaries.
The affected road, located along Federal Route 26, remains passable to all vehicles, but temporary traffic control measures have been implemented to ensure safety around the sinkhole.
Authorities have assured the public that the situation is under control and no injuries or significant disruptions have been reported so far due to the sinkhole.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAB) is investigating the cause
Initial site inspections revealed the presence of a sewage manhole owned by KLIA near the sinkhole. The leak from a suspected damaged sewer pipe is believed to be the primary cause of the collapse.
The ministry noted that the incident occurred outside the maintenance jurisdiction of the Public Works Department (JKR) and RoadCare. However, they are prepared to assist MAB if necessary.
MAB will issue a detailed report after their investigation is concluded.
