Police will extend the remand order for the parents of murdered six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin when the current one ends tomorrow, 7 June

According to Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, his team will apply for the remand extension.

"Yes, we will apply for the remand extension tomorrow," he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

The parents, both aged 28, were arrested in Puncak Alam on 31 May, almost six months after the six-year-old autistic boy was found dead by a riverbank in Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya, on 6 December 2023.

When asked if the parents had made any confession, Hussein Omar simply said that the case is still under investigation

According to Harian Metro, Fahmi Abd Moin, a former deputy public prosecutor appointed as the couple's new lawyer, was not allowed to meet with his clients after the police rejected his request yesterday, 5 June.

Fahmi Abd Moin has been appointed as the parents' new lawyer.
