Singaporean Man Sends Wife's Nude Photos To Her Brother
The man took a screenshot of his wife while she was topless during an intimate video call.
A Singaporean man pleaded guilty after taking a screenshot of his topless wife during a video call without consent and then sharing it with her older brother
The 46-year-old man also pleaded guilty to three other offences, including a breach of personal protection order, voluntarily causing hurt, and drink-driving.
According to Today Online, the man was charged in court on 29 April in Singapore.
It all began when the man had come home after a night of drinking with his friends on 1 June 2023 and got into an argument with his wife
According to the South China Morning Post, things got heated and the man hit his 41-year-old wife.
She then called the police at 2.45am. Two police officers arrived at their unit to investigate the matter.
Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Timotheus Koh said when the police officers were leaving at around 3.30am, the man closed the unit's door and slapped his wife's right arm. This caused her to scream.
The man was then arrested.
The incident occurred while the wife was under a personal protection order issued against the accused on 10 March 2023. The reason for the order was not disclosed in court documents.
On the night of 14 September 2023, the man sent several images of his wife including a screenshot of her topless to her older brother, while calling her names
Koh said the woman received a phone call from her brother the next day, relating the incident.
"The photographs were accompanied by messages from the accused stating that the victim was a 'pig's child', 'a prostitute', and that she came from a 'characterless family'.
"The victim felt humiliated, degraded, and harassed. Her face was visible in the photograph showing her with her breasts exposed," Koh explained.
The topless screenshot was taken sometime in August during an intimate video call.Koh said although the wife had agreed to expose her chest during the call, she had not given consent for her husband to capture a screenshot of her or to share the image with anyone else.
On 25 November 2023, at 2.15am, the man was caught driving a van under the influence of alcohol
According to the court, he had drunk three to four glasses of whiskey after a night of drinking with his friends.
A breathalyser test revealed that his breath exceeded Singapore's maximum legal limit of 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres. His breath had 87 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres.
The man was sentenced to six months and four weeks jail, fined SGD7,500 (RM26,307), and disqualified for driving for 42 months
If found guilty of causing harm voluntarily, the husband could have faced a maximum prison sentence of three years, a fine of up to SGD5,000 (RM17,519), or both.
Similarly, for distributing voyeuristic images, the man could have been jailed for up to five years, fined, caned, or a combination of all three.
In Singapore, violating a personal protection order carries a maximum fine of SGD2,000 (RM7,007) or a jail term of up to six months.
Meanwhile, for drink-driving, the fine ranges from SGD2,000 (RM7,007) to SGD10,000 (RM35,000), a maximum jail term of 12 months, and a driving ban.
Asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
