A 17-year-old student was found dead on the floor of a vocational college dormitory in Lahad Datu, Sabah last Friday, 22 March, with bruises and injuries on several parts of his body

According to Bernama, a dispute over missing money between the dormitory residents at Lahad Datu Vocational College led to the assault of Mohammad Nazmie Aizzat Mohd Narul Azwan.

Lahad Datu district police chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad said two students had lost RM35 and RM50 respectively, and the dormitory residents had accused the victim, Nazmie Aizzat, of stealing the money.

"The victim was then beaten to death. However, the police are still waiting for the full autopsy report from the Forensic Department of Lahad Datu Hospital to ascertain the victim's actual cause of death," said Rohan Shah on Saturday, 23 March.
