In interviews with local media, Ying revealed that their mother could not afford to send them both to university, so her brother voluntarily withdrew himself from school to work
The 27-year-old told Thai PBS Online that her brother, 30-year-old Nattapong Chanapol, is her only sibling and they are very close. They live together with their mother in the Surat Thani province in southern Thailand.
She explained that their mother is a rubber tapper and was not earning enough to sustain the family, and so about 10 years ago, her brother decided to quit second year of vocational school to help support them.
After dropping out of college, Nattapong helped their mother harvest and sell rubber.
Ying said, at the time, as a secondary school student, she had not understood what her brother had done.

Nattapong said he is very proud of his sister and does not regret dropping out of school during a difficult time in their family's lives
Currently, Ying is working at a private company in Thailand to help alleviate the family's burdens.
Ying added that she actually graduated from the university's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2018, but the ceremony had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
She was finally able to celebrate her degree with her family on 1 November this year.
The siblings' story has since received much praise and well wishes on social media.
