In a heartwarming scene, frontliners and residents alike celebrated the end of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at a complex of flats in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor on Tuesday, 13 July

The Hulu Langat Information Office shared the celebratory photos and videos on Facebook as a sign of appreciation for the frontliners who carried out the hardwork of screening and vaccinating the residents of Pangsapuri Sri Ayu in the past two weeks.

After being tense with silence for days, the videos showed healthcare workers dancing to loud music in the middle of the flats, while residents cheered them on from the corridors

"After cutting quarantine wristbands of all the residents were completed, the frontliners were given all sorts of gifts, including flowers, chocolates, teddy bears, and food," the Hulu Langat Information Office said.

"Thank you to all residents appreciating our work."

"We hope all residents will continue to take care of themselves by frequently washing their hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser, to keep wearing masks, and to maintain a physical distance of 1m," the office reminded.

In the videos, residents were seen dropping gifts from their balconies as the frontliners in full personal protective equipment picked them up from the ground floor.

"I love you too! Thank you!" a healthcare worker can be heard shouting into a microphone to the cheering crowds from the balconies.

Pangsapuri Sri Ayu was placed under strict lockdown for two weeks from 30 June after a COVID-19 outbreak

According to Malaysiakini, at least 200 residents tested COVID-19 positive within the span of a month.

During the EMCO, the flats were surrounded by barbed wire and its 2,300 occupants were not allowed to leave the compound until the quarantine was over and all residents had completed COVID-19 testing.

Residents who tested negative were also immediately vaccinated.
