A dramatic video showing a member of the elite Air Force Special Forces (PASKAU) failing to deploy his main parachute has gone viral

According to the New Straits Times, the video was captured during an Air Mobility Tactical Operation (AMTOP) exercise near the Royal Malaysian Air Force's training operation area in Kuantan, Pahang, last week.

The video shows the PASKAU member struggling to fully open his parachute as he continues to fall from the sky.

It is understood that the primary parachute became detached from the parachute bag, likely due to technical issues. As a result, the PASKAU member had to resort to deploying his reserve parachute to execute a safe landing.

The English daily reported that the AMTOP Series 1/23 joint military exercise involved personnel from the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), the Malaysian Army, and the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN).

The training, coordinated and hosted by the Air Region 1 Headquarters (Mawilud 1), was conducted in the training operation areas around Kuantan, Pahang; Gong Kedak, Terengganu; Mersing, Johor; and Pulau Pangkor, Perak.

The primary objective of the training was to bolster coordination among RMAF transport squadrons and helicopters

The training also aimed to test the effectiveness of existing and modern equipment, while accessing the need to update or improve existing procedures, reported the New Straits Times.
