Zahid Says Najib Wasn't Lying About Former Agong Wanting Him To Serve Jail Term At Home
"I confirm that the addendum order is genuine," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
Jailed former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's claim that former Agong wanted him to serve his sentence under house arrest is true, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi
He supported Najib's claim in an affidavit filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on 9 April.
According to Zahid, International Trade and Investment Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz had shown him the "supplementary order" issued by former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah during a meeting at his house at Country Heights on 30 January, reported Malaysiakini.
"The contents of the addendum order expressly stated that the applicant [Najib] be allowed to serve the reduced sentence of his imprisonment under the condition of house arrest, instead of the current prison confinement in Kajang Prison," the New Straits Times quoted him as claiming in the affidavit.
Zahid stated that others have seen the addendum too
According to him, he was aware that other members of the government have seen the aforementioned addendum order, before specifically naming Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
Zahid said that he does not possess a copy of the addendum order.
However, a copy of the addendum order is within the collective possession of the respondents named, including an original version kept by the Attorney General Chambers, reported Malay Mail.
