The highly anticipated GWM Ora 7 is finally available in Malaysia

Great Wall Motors (GWM) has made a significant debut in the Malaysian market with the official launch of the Ora 7. This release comes after a period of anticipation, marking a notable move for the company following the successful introduction of the Ora Good Cat last year.

The GWM Ora 7, also known as the Lightning Cat, is poised to make waves in the electric sedan market as it comes with various features in its arsenal

The Ora 7 — built on GWM's Lemon platform — will be going head-to-head against the recently launched BYD Seal and the Tesla Model 3. However, the Ora 7 stands out as the most affordable option among the three.

The electric sedan features a single front motor generating 204PS (150kW) and 340Nm of torque, accelerating from zero to 100km/h in just 7.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 170km/h. Equipped with an 83.5kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, it offers an impressive range of 640km on the NEDC cycle.

For those seeking even more speed and power, the Performance variant offers all-wheel drive with a second motor, delivering a total output of 408PS (300kW) and 680Nm of torque. This configuration takes only 4.3 seconds to hit 100km/h from a standstill and increases the top speed to 180km/h. However, the increased power comes with a trade-off in efficiency, reducing the range to 483km on the WLTP cycle.

Both models support DC fast charging at 88kW, allowing for a 30% to 80% charge in just 32 minutes. Additionally, the Ora 7 can accept up to 11kW of AC charging, although the charging time is considerably longer at 15 hours. The vehicle also features a 3.3kW vehicle-to-load function and five drive modes, including Normal, Well-Being, Eco, Sport, and Individual.

The GWM Ora 7 Long Range variant is priced at RM169,800, offering impressive performance and range for drivers seeking a reliable electric vehicle. For those looking for even more power and capability, the GWM Ora 7 Performance variant is available at RM189,800, providing enhanced all-wheel-drive capabilities and dynamic driving experiences. Both variants offer advanced features and cutting-edge technology, making them competitive options in the electric vehicle market.

The first 500 GWM Ora 7 owners will receive a complimentary home wallbox charger, along with an extra two-year warranty extension, totalling eight years or 180,000km, in addition to the standard warranty offering.
