Sony has quietly increased the price of its PlayStation 5 DualSense controller worldwide

Despite no formal announcement, several retailers, including Sony’s own PlayStation Direct, have already reflected this price change.

According to IGN, popular retailers in the US such as Target, Best Buy, and Amazon have all raised the price of the controller by USD5 (RM22) since 9 September.

The standard DualSense controller, available in colours like White, Starlight Blue, Galactic Purple, Cosmic Red, Midnight Black, and Gray Camouflage, now costs USD74.99 (RM326.61), up from its previous price of USD69.99 (RM304.83).

For those who prefer the premium colours, including Sterling Silver, Cobalt Blue, and Volcanic Red, the price has increased from USD74.99 (RM326.61) to USD79.99 (RM348.39)

The price hike isn't limited to the US alone.

In the UK, the controller's cost has risen by 5 pounds (RM28.46), while Australia has seen a AUSD10 (RM28.95) increase.

In Malaysia, a quick check found that the PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller's price ranges between RM349 and RM399, depending on the retailer.

This move comes just two weeks after Sony increased the price of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) in Japan, adding to speculation that a larger announcement could be on the horizon

Many are pointing to the recently teased PlayStation 5 Pro as the reason for the increase.

PlayStation 4 lead architect Mark Cerny will host a nine-minute stream today. While details are scarce, many expect that the showcase to finally reveal the PlayStation 5 Pro, further fueling excitement among gamers.

With these recent price adjustments and the possibility of a new PS5 model, Sony could be making strategic moves ahead of the holiday season. For now, gamers looking to pick up a new DualSense controller will need to brace for the higher cost.
