The incident involving a female pupil who sustained a head injury, which went viral earlier today, 16 October, was not the result of bullying or a fight, the school has clarified

In a statement, SK Padang Berampah headmaster Ag Ku Jainuddin Ag Wahab said initial investigations found that the pupil was injured during playtime with friends at the school in Sipitang, Sabah.

"The incident did not stem from any bullying or fighting. It was an accident that occurred while the pupils were playing among themselves," he said in the official statement.

He added that the school took full responsibility and immediately sent the injured pupil to hospital for treatment.

"The viral photo circulating on social media was actually taken while the pupil was on her way to the hospital for further treatment," he said.

The headmaster said the pupil's parents were promptly informed, and the school will continue to prioritise the safety and welfare of its students

"We will also take corrective measures to prevent such incidents from recurring," he added.

Earlier, a photo showing the injured female student in a bloodstained school uniform went viral, sparking public concern and speculation about alleged violence among students.

The incident reportedly took place around 11am.
