GSC Alamanda Announces Closure Of Cinema With Last Screenings On 13 August
Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) recently announced that it will be closing down its outlet in Alamanda Shopping Centre, Putrajaya after 15 years in operation
In a post on the company's official social media accounts, the cinema said it will be showing its last movie screenings on 13 August and will officially cease operations the following day.
"15 years since we opened our doors on 5 April 2008, we've been honoured to share countless unforgettable cinematic moments with you.
"We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support and patronage over the years. Your smiles, gasps, laughter, and applause will always echo in our hearts," reads the statement.
Although this is the end of the road for this outlet, GSC added that people can still visit their cinemas in IOI City Mall 1 and 2, also located in Putrajaya
The post ended with them thanking patrons, "Thank you once again for letting us be part of your film-loving journey. We'll see you soon at GSC IOI City Mall 1 and 2!"
Many Malaysians have since flooded the comments, sharing the memories they've had in that cinema
GSC has announced the closure of three other major outlets since 2020
The first was in Pavilion KL, which has since been replaced with DADI Cinema. A year later, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cinema also shut down outlets in Cheras Leisure Mall and Berjaya Times Square.
However, after 10 months, the GSC branch in Berjaya Times Square reopened on 10 October 2021.
