Hot FM Continues To Lead Malaysian Airwaves With Close To 4 Million Weekly Listeners
The radio station retained its position as Malaysia's top radio station for 2023.
Media Prima Audio (MPA) recently announced its latest listenership results from the Nielsen Consumer & Media View (CMV) survey
The survey — which covered the period from January to December 2023 — evaluated 'Last Week Listening' among individuals aged 15 and above across Peninsular Malaysia.
The results were impressive, with MPA showcasing consistent performance and adaptability to listener preferences. In 2023, MPA radio stations reached a total weekly listenership of 5.6 million unique individuals, an increase of over 100,000 listeners compared to last year.
Hot FM retained its crown as Malaysia's leading radio station for the third consecutive year, with nearly four million weekly listeners
This is, in part, thanks to successful campaigns such as Hot FM's friendly match with Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club and the PIKNIK Bekpes Hot tour with Gardenia, as well as exclusive content featuring Hot FM announcers with celebrities.
Nazri Noran, CEO of Media Prima Audio, said, "We are dedicated to excellence in creating content for multiple platforms. As we embrace the digital era, our focus is on crafting exceptionally engaging content that resonates with fans across all our brands, reaching them wherever they engage with us."
In addition to Hot FM's strong listenership, other stations like Fly FM, Kool 101, and Eight FM continued to make strides
Fly FM maintained its position as the second most popular English-language station in Malaysia, with 2.15 million weekly listeners. Key highlights of 2023 include DJ Aina, Malaysia's first AI radio host, as well as the Sirap Bandung Cincau activation at the BLACKPINK concert and the Fly Nite Club tour.
Kool 101, another Malay-language station, has experienced remarkable growth. Since rebranding, it has attracted 234,000 listeners in just six months by capitalising on current and trending social stories. Kool 101's signature heartwarming storytelling has resonated strongly with Malaysians, solidifying the station's mission to spread positivity throughout the country.
Eight FM, the Chinese-language station under MPA, continues to attract 506,000 weekly listeners. It maintains its commitment to delivering its unique style of self-improvement content. The station's consistent listener base is a testament to the positive influence it has on the lives of those who tune in.
