Leslie Phillips, the actor most well-known for his role as the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter franchise, has passed away
Legendary British actor Leslie Phillips passed away at 98 years old on 7 November, following a long illness, as reported by The Sun.
He was most beloved by Harry Potter fans for his voice acting as the Sorting Hat in three of the Harry Potter films, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011).
The actor, who has starred in over 200 movies, TV shows, and radio series, had a career that spanned almost eight decades
Phillips was a child actor who started his career in 1934 until 2012. In 2014, he suffered two strokes just six months apart and was saved by his wife, according to US Weekly.
His wife, Zara told The Sun in a statement, "I've lost a wonderful husband and the public has lost a truly great showman. He was quite simply a national treasure."
